Enterprise Manager's Bug?

Hello, I'm in trouble to solve my network problem.
My network is full of NetBIOS packets, and bad traffic.
I checked packets and found that this problem appears when Enterprise
Manager is in use.

I think it is Win32 API to control windows service.
Why Enterprise Manager requests "start unknown service"?
Please tell me how to solve this problem, thank you.

Thank you for reading my long long sentence. :-)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Try turning off the polling of the service. In Enterprise
Manager, go to the menu to Tools, select Options. On the
General Tab, remove the check for Server State Polling.

But shortage of network resource is the main problem, I think.
Thank you very much!

Enterprise manager crashing SQL Server

Hi

We're having trouble with Enterprise manager when trying to view views or table data/properties, we get an access violation error and the database crashes sometimes corrupting tables.
Ive seen some posts stating a post SP3 for SQL Server is required and some posts saying client access should be modfied.
However our enterprise manager clients are registered with SA so I dont think that is an issue.
Can anyone give me some help with this and/or direct me to the hotfix please.

Cheers

LouiseThis is the problem due to mismatched DLLs and corrupted client tools installed. Ensure to install SQL client tools from scratch.

And its better to review the task using query analyzer rather than opening from Enterprise Manager due to flaky behaviour of such GUI tools.|||thanks will give that a go and reinstall my client tools

Cheers

Enterprise Manager Connection Issues

Hello,
I am having trouble connecting from enterprise
manager to a sql 2000 box. I can connect to all of our
other production boxes. This is a new box that we built
and I cannot connect. When I go to register it in
Enterprise Manager the error message says "Driver Not
Capable". I'm not sure exactly what this means. All I'm
trying to do is connect to the box. Is there a driver
either on my local laptop or on the server side that
isn't set up right or maybe needs to be updated? I can
open up the database locally on the server and I can
register other servers on it and have that server
registered to other servers. I know other people on my
team are not able to connect to it as well, so I know
it's not just me. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
-Craig CoffaroHello -
The error message "Driver not capable" indicates the problem
to be with the SQL driver. Check the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST
.INI
Check the driver location in the above registry entry. Check for
SQLsrv32.dll version. If the registry location is pointing to incorrect
file, change it and make it point to the correct one.
Have you installed Crystal reports after installing SQL server?

Chandra

One other question I have is when I go to the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST
.INI and I go down to SQL Server
I see in the window on the right, Driver and Setup both have the same
path with the sqlsrv32.dll in it. I also see DrverODBCver being
03.50...what exactly am I looking for or what do I need to be doing
witht this info? Is there a version of the ODBC driver that I should be
updating? Where exactly can I find this? Or is it the path
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sqlsrv32.dll that is the problem, if this is the
problem what path should it be? How does the installation of Crystal
Reports affect SQL? Any help you have for me Chandra is greatly
apprecaited. Thanks.

MDAC? If so, you can download the MDAC Component Checker from
microsoft.com/downloads.

Enterprise Manager

Hi all,

I am an IT student just getting aquainted with Sequel Server. I downloaded a trial version of 2005, and am having trouble finding Enterprise Manager(which my book tells me I need to use for implementing a database). All I really need to do is learn how to design and implement database tables, with their keys and relationships, and populate them to practice querys. Can anyone help me find the applicable portion of the 2005 environment to do this? I don't have a server to hook to, just my laptop.

Thank You!

Jimbo

First of all you need to download .. downloadable version of SQL Server 2005 ie. SQL Server 2005 Express. the trialo version you mentioned is SQL Server express then its ok... Second thing is there is no more Enterprise Manager in SQL Server 2005 .. not the Tool is Called SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS) .. with lot of enhancement. So while instaling , you must choose "WorkStation Components" to get SSMS it installed.

if you are not installed sql server experss .. you can download it from this link

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=220549b5-0b07-4448-8848-dcc397514b41&displaylang=en

If you already have SQL Server 2005 cd then while installing choose the Workstation components as i mentioned earlier

Hi,

I've been trying to get this working as well so I can brush up on my skills but can't get at the Management Studio. I didn't see any workstation component options when I was installing it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Very simply please!

Cheers

Chris

|||The "normal" edition of SQL Server Express does not ship with any client components. You will either have to separately download the client components on [1] opr install the advanced edition from [2].

Hi all,

I actually found a downloadable version of SQL Server 2000 that is serving the purpose for class quite well. Thank you for letting me know about the Express versions of 2005. I wish our class was using that one instead, it makes sense to me to use the version that is more up to date.

Have a great day!
