EnterpriseManager/SQL Query Analysier (Authentication)

We have a sql 2005 server mirror set that we need to connect to.

I am in one active directory domain (eg DomainA) and the sql 2005 mirror is in another (eg DomainB).

We are not allowed (by the sql 2005 server provider) to put a trust between the two active directory domains and if we use a sql server login then if the mirror fails over then we will lose access since the master does not get mirrored.

Is there a way of logining in to the sql server 2005 mirror in DomainB with out logging my whole machine into DomainB or is there a way to mirror the sql users between the two sql 2005 mirror servers.

Any help would be grreatly apperiated

Hi,

Stored credentials can be found navigating to the to the Control Panel > User Accounts > Choose the User > manage you network accounts. You might have a fixed stored credential enetered there ?

Enterprise Mgr Error

Good Day
SQL 2000 - just started recieving the following when loading Enterprise
Manager directly on the server console (from a workstation is fine)
'Connection to application failed. Ensure that no program modules have
been deleted'
I tried re-installing both OS & SQL service packs to see if a DLL or
something was missing - but am still receiving the error - any ideas ?
Thanks!
Hi
Can you open MMC and other add-ins without getting this error?
Can you open SQL Server Enterprise Manager.msc from within MMC?

Good Point & thanks -
MMC.exe runs OK - I added various snapins - all worked successfully -
tried to add enterprise manager.msc - it blows withthe same error
Thanks
|||Hi
You don't say what service pack you are on!
But you could try renaming the MMC and loading the renamed file (which seems
to sometimes work!), renaming the MMC file and installing a service pack, or
copy the MMC from another machine that is on the same fix level.

SQL is SP4 -
I had re-applied that service pack -
But I will retry after renaming the enterprise manager.msc file
Thanks!

Enterprise Manager not displaying Bigint's

I am currently having an issue on one of our pc's here in SQL 2000 Enterprise
Manager, whereby if you do a return all rows on a table that contains a
bigint column it show as blank. Yet if you do a select * from query analyzer
it is displayed correctly.
Hi Russell
Have you service packed this system?

Is that both server and client or are they both the same?
What if you look at the given server from a different client and vice versa?
Does this happen if you use the query open for open table?
Have you checked you have the latest graphics driver?
I have no issue on service pack 4!

Enterprise Manager Icon

Hi,
I have just started using SQL server and am getting on fine with it,
however I cannot find any infomation on a particular Enterprise
Manager icon. Basically we have a number of databases, but I noticed
that the default Northwind database has a "small hand" - like a
Windows network share icon - displayed with it; what does this icon
mean? How can it be removed as none of the other databases display
this icon and are accessible in a multi-user environment?
Regards
The icon means that the database is enabled for replication. The
replication icons are documented in the SQL 2000 Bools Online
<replsql.chm::/repltools_8o6r.htm>.
If you have no replication publications or subscriptions for the Northwind
database, you can remove the 'publish' database option with
sp_replicationdboption:
EXEC sp_replicationdboption 'Northwind', 'publish', false
Hope this helps.

Enterprise Manager Connection Issues

Hello,
I am having trouble connecting from enterprise
manager to a sql 2000 box. I can connect to all of our
other production boxes. This is a new box that we built
and I cannot connect. When I go to register it in
Enterprise Manager the error message says "Driver Not
Capable". I'm not sure exactly what this means. All I'm
trying to do is connect to the box. Is there a driver
either on my local laptop or on the server side that
isn't set up right or maybe needs to be updated? I can
open up the database locally on the server and I can
register other servers on it and have that server
registered to other servers. I know other people on my
team are not able to connect to it as well, so I know
it's not just me. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
-Craig CoffaroHello -
The error message "Driver not capable" indicates the problem
to be with the SQL driver. Check the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST
.INI
Check the driver location in the above registry entry. Check for
SQLsrv32.dll version. If the registry location is pointing to incorrect
file, change it and make it point to the correct one.
Have you installed Crystal reports after installing SQL server?

Chandra

I have had problems with my SQL connections. Thanks for the advice and
I will give this a try. Thanks again.

One other question I have is when I go to the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST
.INI and I go down to SQL Server
I see in the window on the right, Driver and Setup both have the same
path with the sqlsrv32.dll in it. I also see DrverODBCver being
03.50...what exactly am I looking for or what do I need to be doing
witht this info? Is there a version of the ODBC driver that I should be
updating? Where exactly can I find this? Or is it the path
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sqlsrv32.dll that is the problem, if this is the
problem what path should it be? How does the installation of Crystal
Reports affect SQL? Any help you have for me Chandra is greatly
apprecaited. Thanks.

No, you cannot connect to SQL 2005 with Enterprise Manager 2000. Query
Analyzer works though. (With some restrictions.)

No. Use SQL Server Management Studio for 2005. SSMS can also manage SQL
Server 2000 instances.

Enterprise Manager Availability

Hi there,
I currently have SQL7 installed on a webserver, and have the Enterprise
Manager installed on my desktop. I have just purchased another dedicated
server but this one has SQL2000. Since the host installed SQL2000 I do
not have install disks so can not install Enterprise Manager.
When I tried to connect with my Enterprise Manager to the new SQL2000
manager I am told I need another version.
Is the SQL2000 version available for download anywhere?
Steve
No (not regarding any eval version). You need to get a media containing
the EM from your hoster, or use one of the free admin tools:

Hi Jens,
Thanks for your help, I thought that may be the case. I remember
downloading an eval of SQL7 some years ago and I could install EM from
that. Is this not the case anymore?

Entering maintenance mode through Enterprise Manager?

Is there a way of entering maintenance mode ("-m") through Enterprise
Manager (2000), rather than running sqlservr.exe directly?
Thanks!
You can add it as a start up parameter (right-click your server, startup parameters), these are
stored in the registry. But as this is a one-time, it is easier to use Windows Services applet, and
add the parameter there.
